I write this on behalf of all at CYMDC...... First of all to Chris Hall, Thank you very much for all you have brought to the club whilst you where secretary, and for your commitment to the website. It has taken the club forward and for that we thank you very much Chris, don't be a stranger and good luck to you for the future.
Secondly to Frank Andrusyk, who served as the club Chairman, you brought so much to the club during your time as Chairman, you where a great ambassador for the club, and for that we thank you.
Last but not least, Steve Lewis, who stepped in as chairman for the last few months until the AGM,we thank you for your loyalty to the club, now you can relax as vice chairman again.
We look forward to the future with, John Shaw as chairman, who I'm sure will carry on the good work at the head of the club, and myself (Jackie Wilson) as secretary, I will do my best, but feel Chris is a hard act to follow.
Thank you to Wayne Dolan for continuing the role of treasurer,He is doing a fantastic job, long may he reign.

Happy Hunting & Best wishes

Jackie Wilson (Secretary)

March Round-up

Our March AGM is always a very busy meeting with membership renewal fees to be paid, some slight changes to the clubs constitution together with the election for club officials. 29 members and 1 guest were in attendance as John Shaw was voted in as our new chairman. Steve Lewis resumes his position as vice chairman with Jackie Wilson re-elected as Secretary. Wayne Dolan was again selected as Treasurer with Jenny Dolan as Librarian. Cliff Broom takes over as finds officer with Wayne Dolan, Shaun Mear and Tony Wilson taking on the responsibilities as site/ digs officers for the club. Andy Walker and Mel Holmes were made full members and Jon Ruddy a probationary member. We wish you a warm welcome and a long future with our club. One of our constitution changes for this year saw the inclusion of an honorary membership for anyone who has been with the club for 15 years. This saw Peter McBride, Brenda Shippin, Denis Yates and Tony Wilson all receive their free membership by way of recognition for all their hard work and loyalty to the club over the years.

Although March brings the warmer weather and longer days it's also a busy time for the farmers too, ploughing and planting the field that have been rested over winter. So with land disappearing fast it was great to see a very well stocked finds table yet again with some really top notch finds on display for the finds of the month vote. First place in the coin category went jointly to Jackie Wilson with a lovely Philip and Mary Groat and Frank Andrusyk with a most unusual coin that appears to be a gold Henry half groat! Even stranger was the fact that when found it was folded in two around a woven and platted thread. Third place went to Frank again with a Fautina Denari. John Wilson's half follis and an AE3 of Constantine but didn't make the top three with such a high standard of coins on the table. Artifact of the month went to Tony Wilson with a figurine pipe tamp, second place went to Frank Andrusyk with a medieval Strap end and third place was taken with a chariot Terret Ring found by Jackie Wilson. Also on the finds table in this category were a medieval hanging pendant found by Frank Andrusyk, Jackie Wilson's medieval 'Stag' belt loop and a joint find by John Wilson and Frank Andrusyk of a broken medieval Ring Broach. Best wishes and happy hunting,

February Round-up

Central Yorkshire's February meeting saw freezing temperatures and falling snow but was still attended by 14 hardy members and 1 prospective new member. Well done to all who braved the elements to make it... Jackie and I didn't! Wayne Dolan put on his shortest skirt and high heels to stand in as secretary for the night, many thanks Wayne. Most of the meeting was taken up with ideas and changes up for discussion at next months AGM and thoughts of the warmer spring weather hopefully not too far away. A welcome return from a busy work schedule saw Frank Andrusky take a clean sweep of the honours for artifact and coin of the month with an outstanding Anglo Saxon or Celtic Scabbard Mouthpiece and a Constantine Follis respectively. Second in the coin category was John Shaw with a lovely William III Shilling while third went to Frank again with a Edward Groat. Runner up and third in the Artifacts category went to Tony Wilson with a WWI Medal and a horse brass. Also on the finds table was an Edward I Penny from Steve Lewis and a heraldic mount and child's spur from Wayne Dolan. I have included some photo's of some February finds didn't make it to the table due to the weather.
